Machined Cork Ring
Matrix Enterprises can machine your custom parts from a number of materials with ablative and thermal protective properties. Some common and exotic materials we use include:
- Cork
- Foams including polyurethane, polystyrene, and polymethacrylimide (PMI)
- Phenolic, fiberglass, and composites
- Ceramics
- Fibrous Materials
- Other ablative and insulation materials
- Proprietary materials
Matrix can machine a wide variety of shapes from ablative and thermal protection materials to meet the specific contours required. This includes complex shapes requiring 5-axis and multiple machining orientations and processes as well as simple shapes that require only 2-axis machining and water jet operations. We work with materials in a wide variety of densities and with a wide range compression characteristics to produce parts ranging from extremely robust and rigid to ultra-delicate and highly compressible. In many cases our customers have developed their own proprietary materials for their parts. With our material machining expertise, Matrix can identify the optimal holding, fixturing, and machining processes to produce the custom and unique parts our customers require.
